Salary profiles, payroll runs and payslips alongside the firm's accounts and reporting.
Payroll runs from the same staff records as everything else, so a new joiner does not have to be created twice and a leaver does not keep being paid because one of the two systems was not told.
The salary figures also do real work elsewhere: matter profitability values fee-earner time at monthly salary spread over the hours that person was actually available, which is only possible because the two live in one place.
