The terms for using Hukunci

These terms set out what a firm can expect from us, and what we expect from the firm and the people who use Hukunci through it. We have kept them as plain as we can.

Last updated 16 October 2026

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between Brookstech Digital Solutions Ltd (RC 7723305) (“Hukunci”, “we”, “us”) and the law firm or organisation that signs up for Hukunci (the “firm”, “you”). The person who signs up confirms that they are allowed to accept these terms for the firm.

Staff, clients and guests the firm invites use Hukunci under the firm’s account, and must follow the parts of these terms that apply to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information. If the firm has signed a separate written agreement with us, that agreement takes priority where it differs from these terms.

2. The service

Hukunci is software for running a law practice: matters, clients, documents, billing, people and related tools, plus a portal for the firm’s clients. We may improve and change the service over time. If we remove a feature a firm relies on in a way that materially reduces the service, we will give reasonable notice.

Hukunci does not give legal advice. The firm remains fully responsible for its legal work, its advice to clients, its deadlines and its professional obligations. Reminders, calculations and other features are aids, not substitutes for the firm’s own judgement and checks.

3. Accounts and security

  • The firm decides who gets access and what each person can see and do, and is responsible for everything done under its account.
  • Everyone must keep their sign-in details private, use two-step sign-in where it is required, and not share accounts.
  • Tell us straight away at support@hukunci.com if you believe an account has been misused.

4. Your firm’s data

The firm owns everything it puts into Hukunci: client information, documents, messages, financial and staff records (“firm data”). The firm gives us permission to host, process and transmit firm data only as needed to provide the service, and we act on the firm’s instructions as described in our privacy policy.

The firm is responsible for having the right to put firm data into Hukunci, including any consent or notice its clients and staff need under data protection law and its professional rules on confidentiality.

We keep firm data confidential and protect it as described on our security page. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train artificial intelligence models.

5. Acceptable use

Nobody using Hukunci may:

  • break the law, or help anyone else do so;
  • upload material they have no right to share, or that contains malware;
  • try to get into another firm’s data, or into parts of the service they have not been given access to;
  • test, probe or overload the service, or get round its security or usage limits, without our written permission;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product;
  • send spam or misleading messages through the service.

6. Connected services

Hukunci can connect to services run by others, such as Google Calendar, Google Drive, Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint. Connecting is optional. Those services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for how they work or for changes they make that affect the connection.

7. Fees and payment

Fees are shown on our pricing page or in an order we agree with the firm, and are charged per member of staff unless agreed otherwise. Prices exclude VAT and other taxes, which are added where they apply. Client portal users are free.

  • Fees are paid in advance for each monthly or yearly period and are not refundable for part periods, unless the law requires otherwise.
  • Upgrades take effect straight away. Downgrades take effect from the next billing date.
  • Usage beyond the allowances included in a plan, such as extra storage or call time, is charged at the published rates.
  • We will give at least 30 days’ notice of any price change, which applies from the firm’s next billing period after that.
  • If a payment is overdue, we may limit the account after giving notice and a reasonable chance to pay.

8. Ending the agreement

The firm can close its account at any time; it will not be charged for later billing periods. We may suspend or close an account if the firm seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, does not pay, or where the law requires it. Unless it is urgent, we will give notice and a chance to put things right first.

When the firm closes its account, the firm’s data is deleted 30 days later. Until then its super admin can still sign in to download the data or to cancel the closure. If we close an account, we will give the firm the chance to download its data first. How we delete firm data is described in our privacy policy.

9. Our intellectual property

We own Hukunci, its software, design and content. The firm receives a right to use the service under these terms for as long as its account is active; nothing else is transferred. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

10. Availability and warranties

We work hard to keep Hukunci available, secure and working as described, and to fix problems promptly. Planned maintenance will be scheduled to limit disruption where we can.

Apart from what these terms say, the service is provided “as is”, and to the extent the law allows we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that it will meet every need a firm has.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, neither the firm nor we are liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or business opportunity.

Each side’s total liability arising from these terms in any 12-month period is limited to the fees the firm paid us in that period.

These limits do not apply to the firm’s duty to pay fees, or to liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud.

The firm will compensate us for claims brought against us by third parties because of firm data, or because the firm or its users broke these terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page, and give account administrators at least 30 days’ notice by email of changes that materially affect them. Continuing to use Hukunci after a change takes effect means the firm accepts it; if it does not, it can close its account before then.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will first try to settle any dispute by talking in good faith. If that does not work within 30 days, either side may take the dispute to the courts of Nigeria.

14. General

  • Neither side is responsible for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
  • The firm may not transfer this agreement without our consent. We may transfer it to a company that takes over our business, on the same terms.
  • If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • Not enforcing a term straight away does not mean giving up the right to enforce it.
